Malaysian Vodka on the Island

At 7.30 pm, Susanne called me she was ready with the rehearsal, so we met at Juilliard to go have a Malaysian dinner with Danny and his girl friend, and Ryan, another musician.

We went to a restaurant called ‘Penang’ and had a really really nice dinner there. I have no idea what exactly I’ve been eating, but I can assure you it was great :). We all shared some appetizers, for starters I had a seafood soup, and my main dish was something with pineapple, beef, and noodles… I don’t remember exactly what was in there or what it was called, but it was delicious ;). Noodle… you looked absolutely appetizing on the menu :P.

After dinner, we headed home with the whole gang. On the road, Elise joined us as well, so now we were six… All ready for some serious settling :P. To get in the settling mood **cough cough**, we all had one or two vodka shots, or a beer :). Vodka isn’t really my taste though. It’s not bad, but… Well… I prefer Belgian Cinnamon Gin ;).

Two of us hadn’t ever played settlers, so we had to do some teaching, but they played together, and they were apparently pretty smart, ’cause they picked it all up pretty quickly :). It was a pretty long, and pretty close game. It certainly was a lot of fun :). Elise won, after Susanne had seen her chances disappear after she threw a seven in the last round. Me and the newbies were pretty close too, so it was a nice game :).

At around 1.30 am everybody headed home, and I did some finishing touches on my observation plan for La Palma, and went to bed :).

Apparently ‘Penang’ has became a common name for restaurants serving malaysian food around the world (i can name a few ‘Penang restaurant’ in Paris, Sydney and now in NY), erm… but i never hear of any dish cook with pineapple+beef+noodles over here… :D

  2. noodle says:

Yeah, I echo iceberg’s statement, what the heck has pineapple, beef and noodles?!?! Surely its not Malaysian Penang food! Gosh, looks like a worldwide conspiracy to hijack the real Penang food that we have here ice! :P

p/s: noodle looks great served anyhow ;)

Quicky must have been imagining noodles…in fact, he was seeing ‘noodles’ everywhere…I’m sure he just hallucinated it into this meal. His dish was “Masak Nenas”: sliced beef with pineapple. :) (Which he ate with coconut rice.)

    :O hilarious!

pineapple + sliced beef + coconut rice sounds ‘logical’ and yummy…i like ‘nasi lemak’ (rice cooked in coconut milk)!!

noodle, he can’t differentiate between you and rice…o_~’
