Eternal Sunshine of the Incredibly Rocky Platoon
Apart from Out of Africa I watched four other movies the last two weeks: Platoon, Rocky, The Incredibles, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Platoon is a 1986 movie about a ‘platoon’ (’peloton’ in Dutch) in the Vietnam war. It’s nothing incredibly special, but it gives a good view of the soldier’s real lives in the vietnam war through the eyes of a young recruit, without going into the politics of everything. It’s ranked #146 in the IMDB top 250 of all time.
My rating for Platoon: 8/10
Rocky is a 1973 movie about a boxer called ‘Rocky’ (Sylvester Stallone) who isn’t really succesful at his job, mainly because he’s not very motivated and thinks he’s a ‘bum’. At one point he meets a girl he really likes and he’s given an offer to fight against a super boxing star who wants to give young meat new opportunities. Together with his girl friend Rocky finds new motivations though… I really enjoyed this movie. A mix of humor and moral with very good acting from Sylvester Stallone. Weird ending though…
My rating for Rocky: 8/10
The Incredibles is a Disney Pixar animation feature (the guys that made Finding Nemo) that was in the theaters recently. Well… I enjoyed this movie incredibly. I think it’s better than Finding Nemo. It doesn’t go ‘deeper’ concerning story line, it’s a pretty basic good vs evil story, but it’s sooooooooooooo much fun :D. I love Elastigirl :D… Isn’t she adorable? :P Oh and Violet’s hair looks like Susanne’s… Gorgeous :). You definitely got to see this movie if you haven’t already.
My rating for The Incredibles: 8.5/10
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a romantic drama from last year with some hints of science-fiction. It’s about two people who have a relationship. When their relationship turns for the worst, the girl lets a company remove all the memories she has of the guy… And when the guy finds out… he’s not happy :P. This is another of those movies that makes you think and gets you silent at the credits. It’s very confusing at some points, which I suppose reflects the kind of confusion the people themselves experience when their minds have been messed up by memory removal :)… Nice movie!
My rating for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: 8/10
Tijl Kindt
Hehe, funny heading :)
Have you seen “Don’t be a menace to South Central while drinking your juice in the hood”? :P
… which in Sweden was conveniently renamed to “Ghetto Blaster”.
