Very Frustrated

God, I hate modems… We’ve been having trouble with internet for the past two days now… The DSL connection seems to be fine, but every time I reboot the modem, we can only access the internet for one minute or so… if we’re lucky…

After four calls to my ISP, they’re now going to send a test-modem to see whether the problem is with the modem or with the line or anything else. It should arrive tomorrow or the day after, so hopefully we’re going to have our internet back soon… It’s so frustrating you know… Several people need their internet for thesises etc… And I hate it when I can’t fix it… :|… Could use some valium… lol

Anyway… I’m going to ‘Large Scale Structure and Galaxy Formation’ now… It’s a Masters course. I’m not sure whether I’m going to follow it, since we only have to do one Masters course this year, and I think ‘Stellar Evolution’ is more my kinda thing. But we’ll see…

    Still no internet… The test-modem doesn’t work either, so they’re going to send a guy now to test it out with his laptop. If his laptop can access the internet fine, then *I* have to pay the guy, if he can’t access the internet, then my ISP will pay the guy…

    So… anybody got a spare laptop I can use to try this out? I don’t feel like paying 115 euro for bringing a laptop and saying ‘Hey, it works fine with my laptop’…

    Well, the new housemate that is replacing Saskia for five months had a laptop, so we tried it with that one, and no internet either… So I’m pretty confident that the problem is not on our side… hopefully.

    Well… it seems we kinda have our internet back… I don’t know who changed anything, but it seems to be back. At first it wasn’t really stable as I would be unable to view websites from time to time for longer periods of time, but now that I have moved the modem closer to the point where the DSL line comes out of the wall, it seems to be better.

    I’ll have to figure out how to make it more practical though. At the moment the modem is lying in the middle of the floor in the hallway…
