FF 4 - Drinkdrawers

  • What is your family like?

Well… My mother is a 51-year old architect, designing and renovating houses for deprived people, rest homes, clinics and protected buildings. My father is a 50-year old clerk in a hospital where he takes care of the people that aren’t paying their bills on time or not at all. My sister is 17 and studies Bio-esthetics, which basically means that she’s the one who’s going to do your manicure later ;). My parents divorced five years ago, so my mom now lives in our old house together with my sister, while I live here in the Netherlands. My father lives in the same town with his wife. My family has gone through a lot after the divorce and it was definitely not easy. I haven’t had a lot of contact with my father for years, because of certain conflicts. Fortunately this has changed significantly the last months, partly thanks to Susanne, as she helped me deal with the situation.
In the picture, my sister’s on the left, I’m on the right, and my mom’s in the middle… It’s a picture taken last year in the summer, on the way to Germany. Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures of my father.

  • What is your favorite kind of music?

I tend to prefer music without vocals. There’s nothing I don’t like about vocals, but I just notice that the music I like best, just doesn’t have vocals. My favourite artists are Jean Michel Jarre, Dj Tiesto, Mike Oldfield,… So I’m most into electronica, new age, etc. I hope to learn to appreciate classical music some more, after hearing some excellent classical music coming from Susanne’s violin :). Things I don’t like are hip hop and R&B…

  • What are your religious beliefs?

I guess I’m an agnostic. I prefer to think of the universe as some sort of game in which we are self-thinking pieces. There’s not really a goal in the game, but we should all strive to make the game as pleasant for everybody, while ‘God’ and the people that died before us, watch the game unfold. Here’s a piece of a column I wrote on ‘The Game of Life’:

“[…] We can’t influence the game, because the rules have already been set. We can’t alter the rules, nor can we break them. We can’t say ‘hi’ to our still living friends, nor can we give them advice. But while we still live, we can be certain that our passed away ancestors, family and friends, are supporting us and will welcome us with open arms, when we’re ready to join them on the couch.” - The Game of Life

  • How does one go about determining one’s position on the earth’s surface using only a sextant?

Lol, well… I don’t know really… I know you can determine your latitude by measuring the angle between the horizon and the North Star (Polaris), but I’m not sure how I’d calculate my longitude… Okay, I just looked it up on Wikipedia, and apparently determining your longitude is far more difficult than determining your latitude. You could determine your longitude by measuring the angle between the moon and another celestial body and using tables made by astronomers, you can derive stuff from that, but Columbus certainly didn’t know about this. In the picture you can see how to use a sextant.

  • Gold or Platinum? Why?

Erm… what does platinum look like? :P… Okay, I googled for pictures and found the one below. I like it :P. Gold is definitely too kitchy for me, so the only piece of jewelry I have (my pendant), is from silver. But having it made in platinum would be pretty cool too, I’m sure ;).

  • Who is the greatest person you have ever met? Why?

Hmm… :)… The greatest person I have ever met, can’t be anybody else but Susanne (aka SueZQ ;)) :)… She has been a great friend the last 1.5 years. She’s special in so many ways that it’s hard to point just a few things out. She’s very caring, she’s smart, she plays enchanting music, she’s cute, she’s funny, she’s strong, she’s diplomatic but at the same time upfront, etc, etc… She’s definitely not a person you can describe in a few words… I hope we will remain friends for many many years…

  • How many times have you used the word alien (or it’s belgian equivalent) in you life?

Lol, no idea…

I think you probably would’ve been better off with a different picture for old Pt. =) Oh, and yeah, I finally got my comp sorted. I’m back in the (more or less) working world of windows again. Anyways, Pt is the thing that white gold tries to imitate, though without Rhodium plating/coating it doesn’t look even close. Google for more than just pics if you want to know more. I must say, though, that that’s a fairly interesting design for a ring albeit the fancy diamond is a bit off in my not quite so humble opinion. A clear one would look better, or if you want something different, why not go for a sapphire or ruby. Anyways, I was going to bed an hour ago, and now I really gotta go.

we’ll catch up some more once I get my IMing stuff set up.
