FF 16 - SueZQ - Trivia
- What is your favourite: colour / music / band / language / food / dish / drink / person / thing / animal / sport / store / clothing designer / saying / pizza?
My favourite colour is orangish yellow.
My favourite music lies on the verge of electronica, new age and rock.
My favourite band is… hmm… bands… I’m not into bands. How about the ‘Firebornes’? No that’d be silly, since I’ve never seen them play ;). I like Coldplay though.
My favourite language is English. French sounds nice, but I hated learning it, and English is just so versatile… Of course Flemish will remain close to my heart forever.
My favourite food is French and Italian.
My favourite dish is frog legs à la Provençale.

My favourite drink is Lipton Ice-Tea (with bubbles!)
My favourite person is Susanne, duh! (God, I can just feel noodle rolling her eyes)
My favourite thing is my home theater (although I’ll admit that’s a bunch of things together).

My favourite animal is an owl.
My favourite sport is gymnastics.
My favourite store is… lol… no idea. I like IKEA, and I like ‘Kreatief Wonen’ (’Living Creatively’), which is a little store in my home town in Kortrijk selling modern gadget like stuff for daily life, like fancy pepper mills for example. I often go there for Christmas gifts and stuff like that.

My favourite clothing designer is probably G-Star at the moment. Besides that, my Versace shirt is one of my showpieces ;).
My favourite saying is one that my father used to say when I was looking dismayed: “Hij kijkt als een hond op een zieke koe.” (”He’s staring like a dog on a sick cow” in English). In my local dialect this is phonetically written as “E kykt lik en hoend up e zieëke koeë.” Good luck trying to pronounce that ;).
My favourite pizza is one with a lot of mozarella, peppers, mushrooms, ham, and olive oil.
- Why don’t you like mustard?
Heh, no idea… I didn’t like cold sauces when I was young (including stuff like mayonaise and ketchup), so I’ve never eaten any mustard either. Anyway… I definitely didn’t like it when you forced me into tasting it with cheese earlier this month ;).
- Why don’t you like cheese?
I never liked cold cheese either. I love cheese in warm dishes, like on a pizza, in spaghetti, or on a dish in the oven or anything like that, but not cold, no… Definitely not blue cheese… **shivers**

I showed my dad the phrase “Hij kijkt als een hond op een zieke koe”. He told me what it said then said, No wait, that can’t be it, it doesn’t make any sense! *grin* So I told him that yes, it did indeed mean that. But now we both want to know, what does it REALLY mean? When would you say it? And how common is this expression? :P

Hmm… Your dad understands Dutch or something? Anyway, no, it’s not a very common phrase, and my dad is really the only one I ever heard saying it. I *have* found it online though, so my dad’s not the only one :P. I’m actually not 100% sure what it means, but as far as I know, you say it as a statement about somebody looking dismayed and apathetic like ‘geeezzz, he’s looking dismayed and apathetic!’… Something like that ;).

My parents were both born in the Netherlands :)

Oh really??? Why didn’t I know that? Or did I just forgot? :P
So do you know some Dutch?

I can’t remember if I told you or not. My parents used Dutch as their “secret language” when they talked about things they didn’t want the kids to hear. As a result I’ve picked up some words from hard listening. Secrets are always interesting, particularly when they’re about presents! My parents said the first word we learned was snoepje (not sure if that’s spelled right)– We were all playing together, and my mom said it and our heads popped up with great interest. You know what it means right? :)
So no I can’t speak it or read it but can understand bits and pieces
