Annoying Chewing Gum

Chewing GumAnybody knows how to get rid of the chewing gum on my shoelaces? I don’t know how, but somehow I ended up with chewing gum on my shoestrings and my pants this weekend. So now it has become very difficult to tie and untie my shoelaces. I’d appreciate any magical solutions ;).

Here’s one solution I know of: put the things with chewing gum on them in the freezer. Once the gum’s temperature is below a certain point, it stops being sticky and crumbles away easily from your pants&shoe strings. Good luck!

Hmm… I see… I’m afraid the chewing gum is pretty much *in* the shoelaces right now, but I think I’ll give it a try :). Thx! :P

I heard that chewing gum is easy removed with the help of (drumroll): peanut butter :P So goodluck with it….
(and don’t let me catch you making a topic in a week or so on how to remove peanut butter out of you laces :P)

I’ve also heard about freezer… and what a fun! at the moment I am trying to figure how to put there just a pocket of my jacket without jacket itself, heh :) Funny that we have the same problem today, Quicky :), just I know how my chewing gum ended up there and right now I’m just cursing myself for being “clean environment friendly”. Mats suggested me just throw it away on the ground! (so it could end up on someone’s shoe laces :D).
Ok, good luck removing the yucky sticky stuff! (and wish me some luck too and lemme know if you try peanut butter :D I’m not sure I want to buy one just for giving a try ;).

Btw, comment feed didn’t show any of these coments by some reason.

  5. Quicky says:

Heh, I’m not sure I want to try out the peanut butter either… :-S

:P… I think I’ll just put my shoe in the freezer tonight… And see if that helps…

Thanks for the tips so far ;).

hey Tijl, the Peanutbutter remedy is really true. It has been tested and proven to work!
(hoeschoonisjouwhuis -> great show for household hints)

  7. Quicky says:

Hmm… I guess I’ll have to try it out then, eh? :P… The freezer didn’t really help :).

I was still too lazy/busy to google out anything, but I remember that ironing may help (while the chewy stuff is between the papers of course, otherwise yaaay - iron in the freezer). Though :D, the only person I know that tried this method wasn’t successful.
So… how is it going with peanut butter? :P

  9. Quicky says:

I still have to get hold of peanut butter :P… Haven’t been hunting for it yet though. I’ll keep you posted once I do :D.
