Lightning in Leiden

Here’s a picture I took yesterday while there was some lightning going on.

In case you’re wondering how I did it… I made long exposures of about 3 seconds right after eachother at ISO 80 and f/2.8. The Canon Powershot A630 that I had to buy for my sister has a function to repeat an exposure op to 10 times. So each time I pressed the shutter it would make ten consecutive exposures of 3 seconds.

After about 180 exposures (and draining the batteries quite a lot!) I had about 6 pictures with some good lightning on them. This is one of them:

    Nice picture. I use a camcorder instead because we get strikes very close by - up to 40 meters away!
