Life Update: Artistic

They can steal my camera, but they can’t prevent me from buying a new one, and they definitely can’t hold me back from enjoying, editing and publishing my art.
As you may have noticed, I’ve been working on a new gallery system that uses Flash for the eye-candy, but also embeds into my website really well. […]

A Black Day

What should never happen to anybody, just happened to me today. While I was hovering between a state of being awake and being asleep on the train to the Netherlands, some guy took my camera backpack that was sitting in front of me on the other seat and jumped off the train right before it […]

New Flash Gallery!

Ha! I finally have a gallery on my website that I’m actually kinda proud of. It blends in well with the rest of the website, it’s slick, it has an automatic slideshow mode, and… well… it just looks pretty cool :P. So, check it yourself on my photography page. At the moment, there are four […]

Macro & Nature Details Workshop

Last Sunday I participated in another photography workshop. Again organized by Johan van der Wielen, a very active member of the EOS Digitaal forum where I post as well from time to time. This time the theme was macro and nature details photography. It was an excellent opportunity to try out my extension tubes, and […]

La Vie en Rose Barbecue

And there are some new pictures ;). We had a barbecue a bit more than a week ago with Dees who’s leaving our dorm this month unfortunately. So it was kind of the last time we could really have a barbecue with her. I used an altered version of a ‘300′ effect on all of […]

Jean Michel Jarre Showcase

Yesterday I went to a private showcase of the new album Téo & Téa by Jean Michel Jarre. By sheer coincidence I had been checking up on one of the many Jarre-sites, jarreuk.com, last week when they were offering free tickets for the showcase. Of course I couldn’t say no to this offer, as I’ve […]

Old Technology

So… this is what I came up with after some more experimentation… I’m not really that thrilled about it, but I’m still quite happy since this is definitely a new field for me. If you’re wondering how I did it? I actually made a light tent out of a box, printer paper, and black passe-partout […]

First Painting with Light Experiment

I just did my first tiny experiment with ‘light painting’. This is a technique where you ‘paint’ your subject by taking a long exposure while you illuminate your subject with a moving light source, for example a torch. I’m planning on doing some more experimentation tomorrow with a spoon… I wonder how that’ll turn out. […]

England pictures online

After more than three months, the pictures I took during my trip to England last November are finally online. Thanks again to noodle for inviting me :). It were three fun days! You can get to the gallery by going through my Photography page or by clicking on the picture below.

Lonely Road

This is the first time I actually made a picture for an assignment. Nothing serious though, just an assignment for one of the many websites that offer weekly or monthly assignments with a certain theme. The theme for this one was ‘Lonely Road’. So I went to the park nearby here and took some pictures […]

Salisbury Cathedral, United Kingdom

I took this picture in England in November when I met noodle from S3D. The picture was taken with the camera on the border of a fountain, so that you can see a reflection of the interior of the cathedral in the water. Unfortunately the picture turned out to be quite fuzzy, so I won’t […]

Workshop Nature Photography

About 10 days ago I participated in a workshop on nature photography. Since last summer I’ve been reading from time to time on a forum for photographers using Canon EOS digital SLR camera’s. One of the main guys on that forum is a really good nature photographer (called Johan) who wanted to take his first […]

New Photo Gallery

I removed my old photo gallery and added a new one using a WordPress plugin called ANIga. You can get to the gallery either by clicking on Photos in the menu on the left, or by clicking on the Random Picture on the left.
I’m not sure yet what I’m planning with the gallery though, so […]

Graffiti under Rotterdam Bridge

This is a picture I took about two weeks ago when I went to the Diergaarde Blijdorp zoo in Rotterdam. When I was walking back to the train station I passed under this bridge. I lowered the saturation on all colors except blue and raised the contrast to get this effect. I like it ;).

Lightning in Leiden

Here’s a picture I took yesterday while there was some lightning going on.
In case you’re wondering how I did it… I made long exposures of about 3 seconds right after eachother at ISO 80 and f/2.8. The Canon Powershot A630 that I had to buy for my sister has a function to repeat an exposure […]

Mushroom

Once again a picture I took in the Ardennes last summer. A rather nice looking mushroom.

Leaf in Water

Another picture I took in the Ardennes last summer. A leaf stuck in a little stream.

Misty Trees in Black & White

This is another picture I took in the Ardennes, although not in summer. This one was taken just before Christmas when my mom, my sister and me went to the Ardennes for a gastronomical weekend. This picture was taken early in the morning, when the sun was still battling with the fog. I think this […]

Sunlit Trees

This is a picture I took in the Ardennes last summer early in the morning. I like the contrast between the green of the moss and trees and the almost golden sunlight on the needles of the trees.

Photoshopped Models

Here’s something that should relieve the women among us… The models you are so familiar with from televisions and magazines are (in case you didn’t know this yet) not what they seem to be… Here’s a modest example of what Photoshop can do. I call this quite impressive :|. And it makes me wonder how […]

Awwww… Cute!

Found these pictures with my StumbleUpon plugin on cuteoverload.com. So cute :P… If you’ve ever seen a cat stuck to a sweater by the tongue, this is why. ;)
Btw… keep your fingers crossed for today… I’ve got my exam on Radiative Processes today…

Highspeed Photography

Just stumbled upon a pretty cool site of a Dutchman that likes to experiment with photography. He’s got a pretty impressive gallery with highspeed photography going from exploding firecrackers to shooting dice to multicolored water droplets. I was really impressed with one of the pictures of a bursting multicolored water droplet. He also gives quite […]

Our Eyes Photography

I just found a very beautiful site or actually an online magazine, called ‘oureyes photography’ hosting an impressive gallery at oureyes.net. Impressive in number of pictures, but more importantly in quality of those pictures. They’re primarily hosting artistic nudes, portraits, self-portraits, people, fashion, cities, places, urban scenes, abstract, mix media, personal and touch. I strongly […]

Slides Projected

Yesterday evening I watched the slides of my trip to New York with a slide projector and wow, they look so much better than on my screen! Now I remember why I prefer taking pictures on slide film :p. Maybe my screen isn’t as good as I thought it was either… Hmm… :)
Anyway, a lot […]

New York Photo Album

And the New York Photo Album is also finished. Unfortunately no pictures from Susanne at the moment. Maybe later, but there’s little chance, since she doesn’t want any casual pictures of herself online, to protect her career. :-/
But anyway… Enjoy the pictures of high buildings, baseball in Central Park, art, flowers, etc. :)
Tip: Use the […]

La Palma Photo Album

The La Palma photo album is ready :). Enjoy the views of the telescopes, sunsets and roaring ocean ;).
Tip: Use the slideshow feature ;).
PS: In the meantime I also moved my Toscane and Umbria pictures to my new Gallery.

All Pictures Scanned

It was a tough job, but all pictures of New York and La Palma have been scanned, cropped and contrast enhanced with the aid of the excellent Minolta DiMage Dual Scan IV slide scanner and Corel Photo-Paint ;).
I hope you’ll enjoy them :).

Silly Queen

Bah, lamers. I went to the photo shop this afternoon only to hear that my pictures weren’t ready yet because of Queen’s Day last Saturday :|. So their lab had been closed and no transports had been done. Your Queen is more important than my pictures??? How dare you !?! :D
Oh well… I can pick […]

Home Sweet Home

I’m back peeps ;). After seven days of observing in La Palma and gathering more than 100 Gigabytes of data with the bunch of us, we headed back home. It was a great, fun, educative and unique experience and I’m soooooo glad I went :).
Anyway… I now have 8 rolls of 36 pictures (about 280 […]

First Gallery Online

I just finished adding my first gallery to my own website. So from now on you can check my galleries here. There’s also a link somewhere on the right under my Poems section.
Only the gallery with pictures from Germany 2004 is online at the moment. I’m going to add the Venus Transit gallery next, as […]

Spinning Cassiopeia

Here’s a picture of Cassiopeia that I took this summer in Germany. I had taken about 7 pictures that night, but all of them were screwed up. I don’t remember why though. I finished the roll only a month ago, so that’s why it took me so long to get this developed. As you can […]

My room at sunrise

I thought I’d share a picture of my room with my friends, as well as a picture of a sunrise taken out of my room about two months ago. :)
Here’s my room:

And here’s a nice sunrise above the buildings across the street:

And if you’d like to know what my desktop looks like usually, see here. […]

More Pictures

If you want to check out more pictures of me and some very beautiful holiday pictures, check out My Photo Albums on Webshots.
There is an album with pictures from the Venus Transit from June 2004, there’s an album with a few pictures from our trip to Toscane and Umbria from summer 2002 and there are […]
